6 days tour “Desert, Mountains & Waterfall: Tour of 3 Elements“

Itinerary

Day 1 : Marrakech - Imlil - Toubkal Refuge

In the early morning you will be picked up in Marrakech (your hotel or airport) by our driver. Leaving behind the urban area you pass small towns like Asni and on the small road arrive to Imlil, the central village for departures to Toubkal Trek. After introductions to the accompanying local team members we start our trek. First we take a comfortable walk through the fruit filled Mizane Ait Valley, using hidden mule tracks as our route takes us up to the high cliffs above the valley. Crossing the river we eventually come to the pastoral holy place of Sidi Chamharouch that attracts many pilgrims throughout the whole year. After a short break our trail climbs steadily on the snaking and winding road to the cosy Refuge of Toubkal (3206m), our accommodation for the night.

Walking approx. 6 hours

Day 2: Refuge Toubkal - Summit – Refuge Toubkal – Aremd

We get an early start with breakfast at approx 5 am to start on our trek to the summit of Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa . Our route takes us up the southern circuit, crossing the stream above the Refuge. The walk is relatively easy, however being unused to the high altitude can make the walk quite difficult in some parts. We will take it slowly and the views along the way are worth the effort! Once we reach the summit the breathtaking views in every direction open to us – from the Marrakesh Plain to the High Atlas in the north and as far south as the Anti Atlas and the Sahara.
After enjoying this special moment and taking pictures we return down to Refuge Toubkal. Usually three hours are needed to get up and back to the refuge. We have lunch at the refuge and after short rest we walk to the village Aremd where you will be accommodated in a nice and clean guesthouse with friendly staff, hot showers and all you need to feel comfortable.

Day 3: Aremd – Dades Gorges – Casbah ait Ben – Ouarzazate – Rose Valley

After breakfast in Aremd we drive to the south, crossing High Atlas Mountains at an altitude of 2260 m (Tizi n´Tichka pass). On the way we pass through many Berber villages, makingh several stops to make pictures, enjoy the spectacular views and explain about the area. Once in the desert we see many riverside oases and Kasbahs. Around lunch time we arrive in Casbah ait Ben and eat our lunch there. One hour after we arrive to Ouarrzazate, the famous “cinema” city where movies like Lawrence from Arabia or James Bond were filmed. Depending if you are film fans or not we could visit the film studio. After we drive to the “Valley of the Roses”, we take a walking break there to admire the beautiful views over the Dades valley. After we drive to our hotel in Dades Gorge.

Day 4: Dades Gorges – Todra Gorge – Merzouga Desert

We start from Dades Gorges and continue towards Merzouga. We make a short stop at Todgha Gorge and then drive to the dunes of Merzouga with lunch on the way. A camel ride will be organized around 4 p.m in the dunes of Erg Chebbi. We spend the night in the traditional Berber camp, observing sunset and enjoying a delicious traditional dinner.

Day 5: Merzouga – Ourzazate - Ouzoud

Today we need to get up early, our camels wait already and we ride again into the desert to observe the sunrise. Returning to the camp we have breakfast and then take an alternative route through Draa Valley to Ourzazate. We eat our lunch in Ouarzazate and start our trip towards Ouzoud. We arrive late in the evening and accommodate ourselves in a local guest house.

Day 6: Ouzoud – Watterfall Ouzoud – Marrakech
