7-Day Morocco Itinerary from Casablanca

Day by Day Plan:
Day Destinations / Activities Description
Day 1: Casablanca → Rabat → Meknes → Volubilis → Fes Pickup from Casablanca, drive to Rabat to see the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the Kasbah des Oudaias. Continue to Meknes, explore the Bab Mansour Gate and the old Medina. Then visit Volubilis, the expansive Roman ruins and UNESCO site. Overnight in Fes in a traditional riad.
Day 2: Full Day in Fes Guided tour through the old Medina of Fes, including the Al-Quaraouiyine Mosque & University, Jewish Quarter, tanneries, artisan quarters. Discover centuries-old crafts, labyrinthine streets, historic architecture.
Day 3: Fes → Ifrane → Azrou → Midelt → Merzouga (Sahara) Leave Fes in morning, pass through Ifrane (“Switzerland of Morocco”) and cedar forests of Azrou (look for Barbary monkeys). Continue via Midelt for lunch. Drive south across Middle Atlas & Ziz Gorges, crossing changing landscapes until reaching Merzouga at the edge of the Sahara. In evening ride camels to a luxury desert camp, enjoy sunset dunes, Berber dinner & music under stars.
Day 4: Sahara Sunrise → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley Early morning hike or camel ride to watch sunrise over the sand dunes. Then depart for the dramatic landscapes: stop in Rissani, then Tinghir and the Todra Gorge – steep canyon walls, scenic river crossings. Continue to Dades Valley, enjoy its rock formations (“monkey toes”) and stay in guesthouse overlooking the valley.
Day 5: Dades → Ouarzazate → Aït Benhaddou → Marrakech Cross the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs, visit historic kasbahs. Arrive at Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO fortified village known from films & TV (Gladiator, Game of Thrones etc.). Then cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N’Tichka pass to reach Marrakech.
Day 6: Marrakech City Guided Tour Explore Marrakech: Jemaa el-Fna square, Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, Majorelle Garden, Koutoubia Mosque, museums. Explore vibrant souks, gardens, palaces. Evening free to soak up atmosphere, dinner in local restaurant.
Day 7: Departure (Home Sweet Home) Depending on your flight time, free morning in Marrakech. Transfer to airport or relax in a café / revisit favorite spots before departure.
